Wild Color

Slow fashion made in small batches.

Hi! I’m Christa and welcome to Wild Color Studio! I use natural dyes to color clothing and accessories while promoting and educating a more sustainable and safer dye process for the environment.

I have family ties to my surrounding area as both my maternal and paternal grandmothers were born and raised in New Mexico. One grandmother was of Navajo descent and my other grandmother’s ancestry is from Mexico. I feel a strong tie to my heritage living here and also a connection to the landscape. That is why I feel it is important that Wild Color Studio includes sustainability through education and practices for environmental protection. Given our current situation with climate change, I believe this to be our greatest threat to global health in the 21st century. Human activities being the main drivers of our situation, we need to be able to take responsibility and coordinate global action.

Throughout the years, my art practice has opened up to span many disciplines and areas such as ceramics, drawing, and printmaking. Natural dyes has opened up new challenges and engages me in a new creativity. I am interested in using the knowledge of these new processes to make beautiful things, collaborate and build community.
